Open University of West Africa or OUWA is an open university established in Accra, Ghana, with a vision to end born-into poverty in West Africa.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Open University of West Africa a movement )〕 The University was founded in January, 2012 by John Roberts and Patrick Steele, co-founders of Heal the World Inc, following an earlier trip to Africa embarked upon by the former, where he came into contact with underprivileged schools.〔 The University is situated at Osu, a business district of Accra and is supported by a number of educational institutions and corporate bodies, among which include; University of British Columbia, University of Mary Washington, Udacity, Google and Stanford via Coursera.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Courses Currently Offered At OUWA )〕 ==History== The open University of West Africa was founded by John Roberts and Patrick Steele, co-founders of Heal the World Inc, following the former's encounter with underprivileged schools in Africa.〔 The Idea was to establish a University that would provide West Africans who normally would not be able to afford to go to school, access to primary, secondary and higher education, in the hope that by being educated they would become successful entrepreneurs.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Heal the World Inc.: Providing Educational Opportunities in West Africa )〕
